Sunday 6th January 2008

Sunday 6th January 2008
Today we drove the 35kms to Kottavolsa where the New Hope Andhra Pradesh base is. We were met by 125 kids, about 15 HIV infected mothers with their children, and the New Hope staff including Brother Paul, an Aussie expat who has been here for 35 years. This was an incredibly moving experience. They draped flowers around our necks, sat us under the biggest mango tree in the world (30m diameter) and then sang for us, class by class. We all then introduced ourselves and brother Paul made me sing. Must be a cultural thing. Lunch was ...curry... eaten with the right hand for those wanting the full Indian experience, spoons for the wooses. Elijah went the hand technique like a duck to water. We’ve been scolding him for years for eating with his fingers at the table, now all that’s down the drain. It’ll take years to get this out of him! I had a personal tour of the Aids mother & child centre. Totally awesome. Cried. These guys are really doing the stuff. If you have any spare money, send it here.
