Today we swam with turtles! They are brought into a tidal lagoon conservation area when fishermen find them caught in their nets and injured and when they have recovered they are released back into the wild. They swim right up to you and let you “ride” them as you hand feed them seaweed. They also have about 30 babies which are put in individual little buckets for feeding time to ensure they all get their fair share. These too are released into the ocean when they are big enough to fend for themselves. We are currently relaxing after a ½hour $5 massage while the kids are jumping off the balcony into the sea. Oh the bliss of sleeping in! Actually, Kaz and I still woke up at 7 but Maddi slept till after 10. The others headed off for a day of snorkelling while the Griswalds stayed to veg for the day, catch up on some maths, get henna tattoos and play in the ocean which, by the way, is right outside our balcony. The view from our room is absolutely spectacular. After 2½ hours on the world’s slowest internet connection trying to upload this blog, we finished the day with a beautiful seafood dinner in the resort next door which is closed for the low season but Mohammed met the owner and convinced him to open the kitchen and cook a couple of fish he’d caught today.
